Function & Maintenance
- Role: This valve is a critical component of a Two-Stage Air Cleaner. It automatically expels dust and water that have been pre-cleaned from the air before they reach the main filter.
- Operation: Under normal engine pulsing, the valve opens and closes to dump collected debris. When the engine is off, it “unloads” any remaining contaminants.
- Signs of Failure: If the valve becomes stiff, cracked, or clogged, it can lead to premature air filter failure, reduced engine performance, and increased fuel consumption.
CompatibilityWhile specifically used in Mustang/Manitou heavy machinery (like the 2056 Series II), these valves are often manufactured by Donaldson.
